Scottish Retailers & Single Malts

This morning we had a long bus ride to the town of Blair Atholl. Our first stop was at House of Bruar- Scotland’s most prestigious independent store. They are the home of country clothing and have the largest cashmere hall.
We were guided through the many buildings that make up the store- each one catering to a different need. They were all centered around the outdoors and rustic living. Their products were definitely something that intrigued me and that I could relate to.
After our tour of the gorgeous luxury outdoor brands, we stopped in town at a sweet little sandwich shop and then went to Blair Atholl Distillery.
We were given a tour of the distillery and learned the process for making whiskey. We walked through different buildings to see how the barley transforms. I thought it was interesting to smell the differences between each room. It intensified throughout the process. It smelled quite similar to strong whiskey and molasses.
At the end of the tour we learned the proper way to taste whiskey. We then sampled the single malt. It was a fun experience!
Cheers from Blair Atholl!
XOXO,
