Last Class Day

Today is the last official class day on the trip. We had a really relaxed morning and early afternoon to rest and pack for tomorrows travels.

In the middle of the afternoon we took the bus to the town of Canelli. It happened to be the day of their town celebration. Everyone was dressed in traditional costume for the time period they had become an official town. There were many vendors set up participating in a “wine trail”. The essentially means that you pay for a wine glass and then are able to visit each stand to taste their homemade wines. It is such a great idea to experience locally made wines.

After the Canelli town experience, we went to the Bosca winery. Bosca is known for their sparkling wines. They pretty much tasted like a sparkling cider or juice. They tasted good but I personally wouldn’t think of them as a wine.

For dinner, we went as a group to the village Montegrosso to eat at an Agriturismo “Assiuolo.” This is essentially a secluded home that can be rented-out each evening for a dinner party. The particular one we visited is owned by a man named Antonio Bellicoso- he produces his own wine and it is FABULOUS! It has received a 99/100 rating, WOW! He only makes 2,000-3,000 bottles a year and they are only available for purchase in Italy. I definitely purchased one to bring back to my sweet parents. (I packed light so I could fit wine in my suitcase.)

The dinner was incredible! It was a full 8 course meal.
