Gondolas are Fun, Venice is Beautiful

After a full day of touring, pictures, and a gondola ride, I can confidently say that the city of Venice is absolutely beautiful!
This morning we took the bus and then a boat from our hotel to Venice. We toured St. Mark’s Square and the Basilica. The ceiling of the Basilica is lined with gold, gold and more gold. Then we walked to Doge’s Palace. Quick history lesson – being the Doge is expensive. Basically, after they are elected they have to pay for everything that Venice needed with their own family money.
After the tours, we went back to the hotel for a late lunch and a quick nap. Thank you bartender Grace!
In Venice, there are numerous amount of stairs, bridges, pathways, and alleys. Judging by how my legs are feeling, I would say I walked 95% of them. Definitely a more fun reason for legs to be sore though. I fell in love with the sights of Venice. The quaint coffee shops (obviously,) the window box flowers, and the bridges. From our boat, we could see many gardens at the peak of rose season. It was the most beautiful view.
We finished our evening with a gondola ride. Let me tell you, finding a cute gondolier is way harder than they make it look in movies, but after realizing that the gondola ride would be the same with or without a cute driver, we took the next guy we found. It was so worth it. The ride was amazing. It was almost like being in a movie. We relaxed in the comfy seats of the boat, drank wine, took photos, and enjoyed each other’s company. A wonderful ending to my time in Venice.
