Asking for Wisdom

This morning I was blessed in so many ways by going to eLife Church service. One of my sweet girlfriends from high school whom I ran into last week (total God thing) invited me to go with her today. The sermon was titled “Breaking Up a Fight.” The focus was that instead of fighting people to reach the top, serve people and you will make it to the top. The biggest thing I walked away with was reflection on verse 3 in James chapter 4.
I was really able to relate to this verse because there are certain things in my life I want and ask God for instead of seeking His wisdom first. God answers our prayers in three different ways. With a yes, a no, or a wait. Sometimes God tells you “no” because your motives are wrong.
A deeper meaning in this verse is that ones motivation for anything (even acts of service) can be wrong if it is not prayed about. We may be praying for something that is also God’s will but because it is with the wrong intention, our prayers are not answered. Realizing this has put a different outlook on the way that I pray and interpret God’s answers.
What a wonderful way to start this week!
XOXO,
