A Trip to Selkirk

The main adventures from today were a visit to the town of Selkirk and Stirling Castle.
I started the morning with a full Scottish breakfast. This however did not consist of haggis. I am still debating on whether or not I want to try this Scottish dish.
We met our bus driver and drove 1.5 hours to Selkirk. While we were there, we toured Lochcarron to find out the history behind the company and experience the manufacturing process.
It was interesting to feel the different types of thread used to make the scarves. My favorite was the cashmere because of how soft it felt.
Each pattern has been carefully designed for a specific purpose. It takes a long time to ensure each thread is in the correct spot.
If the print is incorrect, even by a single thread, it has to be taken out and a new thread is hand-sewn back into its place. This can take up to TWO DAYS!
Each family name in Scotland has a specific print related to their heritage. However, they can be worn by anyone.
After learning about the Lochcarron company, we ate lunch and took the bus to Stirling Castle.
I enjoyed seeing the original architecture and design.
The castle grounds were huge and fun to explore with new friends.
XOXO,
